Well here is my top 5 of anything and everything that there is, right now, that I know about.
Apples to Apples

Apples to Apples is a great party game my wife recently bought. It can be played with 4 to 10 players, so it is even fun when you have a large group over! Basic Rules: Each player is dealt seven “red apple” cards; on each is printed a noun or noun phrase. The judge (a chosen player that rotates every turn) draws a “green apple” card on which is printed an adjective, and places it face-up on the table for everybody to see. Then each player (except the judge) chooses a card that they think is the best match for the green apple card, and places it face-down. The judge shuffles the red apple cards, reads them aloud, and decides which noun is the best match for the adjective. This decision is subjective; the official rules encourage the judge to pick the match that is “most creative, humorous or interesting”. For example “picking your nose” might be the most accurate card to go with “dirty”, but “The 60′s” might take the point because it is hilarious.
King City

A few weeks ago I popped into my local comic shop for something new to read. Thankfully, I have been going there for a while now and the staff know what I like. The conversation went something like this…
Travis – It’s a slow day at work and I need something to read, got anything interesting?
Jason – King City. It doesn’t have Superman or Green Lantern but it does have a cat that can do amazing stuff.
Travis – I’ll take it.
It is written by Brandon Graham and was published by Tokyopop in 2007 and was nominated for an Eisner Award. It was announced in May of this year that Image Comics would be picking it up and re-releasing them in golden age size comics. Tokyopop normally release anime/manga stuff that just doesn’t have enough superheroes for my tastes. This main character and his cat are super enough that i loved it. The version I have is the release of the first 18 chapters by Tokyopop and it is the first thing I have ever read by that publisher.
Top Chef

My wife and I have been watching Top Chef since the second season and I think this is the season with the most talented chefs since the first. In a previous post I stated that I thought Kevin (third row down, second from the left) would prevail as the Top Chef winner this year. So far, so good. There has also been some great challenges (French sauce & protein, deconstruct a classic recipe) and quickfires(angel/devil, cactus). They have release a cookbook, a quickfire cookbook and starting on October 20th they are releasing the seasons on DVD
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
We started watching It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia about a year ago and quickly made our way though the first 4 seasons. So far the fifth season has been great, with the standout episode being “The Gang Hits the Road”. I’d recommend this show to anyone that is a fan of offbeat comedy. All of the characters are so despicable, it’s amazing. The first four seasons are already out on DVD and they have a Christmas special coming out on November 17th
Shout Out Out Out Out
I have been a fan of this band since the CBC introduced me to them in 2006, when their first album was being released. I immediately took to the band as they seemed to be a merging of my two favorite genres (rock and electronica) and this did it in a way the was refreshing and different. I was lucky enough to see them live this summer when I was in Quebec City. Hopefully they will tour this far east soon so I can share the experience with my friends.
